At ZazoBrown Consulting, our work is grounded in a deep passion for people, equity, and transformative change. With over three decades of combined experience across education, public service, and community engagement, we bring both lived expertise and strategic insight to every project. Our team has trained educators, supported government leaders, and partnered with community organizations to co-create solutions that are practical, inclusive, and sustainable.
We don’t just consult — we listen deeply, build trust, and walk alongside our clients as they navigate challenges and opportunities. Our passion lies in helping individuals and institutions grow — not only in skill, but in courage, compassion, and cultural responsiveness. Whether designing training programs, facilitating leadership retreats, or advising on equity strategies, we approach each engagement with purpose and heart.
Our work is fueled by a belief that real change happens when people feel seen, heard, and equipped. That’s the experience — and the passion — we bring to every table.
Terry E. Brown is a nationally respected community engagement strategist and education consultant with more than 30 years of leadership experience in public service. A proud graduate of Grambling State University with a degree in Criminal Justice, Terry’s career has been defined by a deep commitment to equity, education, and cultural preservation.
Raised in a military family and educated internationally at AFCENT International High School in the Netherlands, Terry brings a global perspective to local change. He served as Superintendent of Fort Monroe National Monument in Hampton, Virginia, where he led park operations, community engagement, and strategic partnerships. In this role, he was widely recognized for spearheading the commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in English North America—a milestone event that drew national attention. In recognition of his leadership, Terry was appointed by the President in 2018 to the Federal 400 Years of African American History Commission.
Terry's extensive public sector experience includes serving as the Director of Federal Partnerships for the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, where he played a key role in planning for America’s 250th anniversary. His ability to bridge government, community, and educational systems has earned him numerous honors, including the Federal Executive Board of Excellence’s Outstanding Service Award and the City of Hampton’s Community Service Award.
Now retired from federal service, Terry is the managing partner to ZazoBrownConsulting, LLC alongside his wife, Jennifer Zazo Brown. Together, they offer professional development, strategic planning, and educational consulting services that center inclusion, innovation, and impact.
Outside of work, Terry is a devoted husband and father to four amazing children. He enjoys sports, fishing, gardening, poker, and spending time with his family.
