About Us

Experience & Passion

At ZazoBrownConsulting, LLC, we believe education is not just about knowledge—it's about transformation.

Founded by husband-and-wife team Terry E. Brown and Jennifer Zazo-Brown, our firm blends over 50 years of combined experience in community engagement, cultural leadership, and educational innovation. We partner with school districts, museums, nonprofits, and government agencies to design learning experiences that are bold, inclusive, and built to last.

  • From nationally recognized public programs to powerful teacher workshops and strategic planning for systems change, our work is rooted in real-world impact. Whether we’re helping a district build a more equitable curriculum or supporting a cultural institution in connecting with new audiences, we bring vision, strategy, and heart to everything we do.
  • We don’t just consult—we co-create. Let’s build something that lasts.

Terry E. Brown, CEO

Terry E. Brown is a nationally respected community engagement strategist and education consultant with more than 30 years of leadership experience in public service. A proud graduate of Grambling State University with a degree in Criminal Justice, Terry’s career has been defined by a deep commitment to equity, education, and cultural preservation.

Raised in a military family and educated internationally at AFCENT International High School in the Netherlands, Terry brings a global perspective to local change. He served as Superintendent of Fort Monroe National Monument in Hampton, Virginia, where he led park operations, community engagement, and strategic partnerships. In this role, he was widely recognized for spearheading the commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in English North America—a milestone event that drew national attention. In recognition of his leadership, Terry was appointed by the President in 2018 to the Federal 400 Years of African American History Commission.

Terry's extensive public sector experience includes serving as the Director of Federal Partnerships for the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, where he played a key role in planning for America’s 250th anniversary. His ability to bridge government, community, and educational systems has earned him numerous honors, including the Federal Executive Board of Excellence’s Outstanding Service Award and the City of Hampton’s Community Service Award.

Now retired from federal service, Terry co-leads ZazoBrownConsulting, LLC alongside his wife, Jennifer Zazo Brown. Together, they offer professional development, strategic planning, and educational consulting services that center inclusion, innovation, and impact.

Outside of work, Terry is a devoted husband and father to four amazing children. He enjoys sports, fishing, gardening, poker, and spending time with his family.
